Kanazawa Shrine

Kanazawa Shrine was established in 1794 and enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, the ancestor of the Maeda family and a deity revered as the god of learning.At the time of its founding, the shrine served as a private place of prayer for the feudal lord and was not open to the public. In 1874, it was opened so that anyone could freely worship.In addition to its main deity, the shrine also enshrines Shirohebi Ryujin, the god of protection from misfortune; Kotohira Okami, the god of traffic safety; and Shiroashi Inari Daimyojin, the god of business prosperity—making it a historic and well-loved place of worship.The “Keiga Torii” at the entrance beautifully complements the surrounding greenery, adding a touch of elegance throughout all four seasons.Surrounded by the lush landscape of Kenrokuen Garden, the shrine’s vivid vermilion buildings are designated as Important Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan.At this sacred shrine rooted in ancient Japanese tradition, we are honored to celebrate the joyful beginning of the couple’s new life together.
